One can frequently encounter a situation when a neglected and damp tenement house protected by the Monuments Conservator, excluding the possibility of thermal insulation, needs to be revitalised. The only method of improving energy efficiency in the building is to replace windows, perform thermal modernisation of the roof and install a new, energy-saving source of heat.

3THERMO, producer of concealed radiators, was invited for co-operation on a revitalisation project of an old tenement house in the centre of Poznań. A solution was sought that would not disturb the structure of the building, at the same time greatly limiting heat losses. There are circumstances where wall heating is the only right choice to be made, and so was the case.

The investor wished to ensure that the original hardwood floor is preserved and for that that reason floor heating was out of question. At the same time, the new solution was supposed to be energy-saving and comfortable. 3THERMO radiators were chosen for reasons of hygiene (natural regulation of humidity, lack of dust circulation), and ability to dry the walls (elimination and fungi and moulds).

Wall heating offers a range of new possibilities hard to reach with other forms of heat redistribution. They can be achieved due to the placement of the system inside the building envelope, where the greatest heat losses occur. In addition, 3THERMO system needs no further maintenance, no venting or cleaning, and the radiators do not attract dust and do not emit noise.

The system finds its ideal application in such places as tenement houses where limiting heat losses, clean air and prevention of the wall dampness are the target.
